Remote Invigilation
Online exams/remote invigilation is now available for a limited number of Edexcel IGCSE and international A-level subjects. To sit exams online, students will need three devices: one to record the exam, one to show behind them, and a computer/laptop with a webcam. Students may also need a printer if they are planning to sit a paper-based online exam, as the exam is to be printed out at the start and scanned in at the end before being submitted.

Online exams come in two forms: on-screen and paper-based. Different subjects have different requirements, so we recommend getting in touch if there's a particular subject you're interested in. Please note that our school fees do not include exam fees, these will be disclosed separately.

How does remote invigilation work?
Invigilators are assigned to a small number of students to ensure personalised support, particularly for candidates with SEND. Pearson offers accommodation for a wide range of access arrangements as well, such as extra time or rest breaks, enabling every child to feel supported during their examination process.

While students cannot see or hear their invigilator, they can request help at any time during their examination by typing in the live chat box or speaking via their microphone. The invigilator, however, can see and hear the student throughout the setup, examination, and submission stages, and may only communicate through the chat box. All familiarisation sessions and live examinations are recorded and monitored for quality assurance and safeguarding purposes.

A parent or guardian must be available for the duration of any remotely invigilated examination. They may assist the student during the setup and submission stages, but must leave the room during the live exam. They should remain within hearing distance in case the student requires assistance.
The Pearson Edexcel Remote Invigilation Service Handbook can be found on the Pearson Edexcel website to help students better understand the process and the steps of remote invigilation.
After expressing interest in the service, students will be provided access to a few demo assessments to familiarise themselves with the process and decide whether they want to make formal exam entries for the remote invigilation service. Students who sign up for the formal examination process will have the opportunity to participate in a live system familiarisation exercise, to ensure they are comfortable with the experience before their high-stakes examinations.
