Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)
What is an EPQ?

EPQ stands for Extended Project Qualification, and it is a highly valued qualification that can earn students up to 28 additional UCAS points (equivalent to half an A-Level), enabling them to stand out to admissions teams. Our EPQ courses are available to all sixth form students aged 16 to 18.

An EPQ consists of researching a topic you're passionate about and presenting it in one of 4 formats: dissertation, investigation/field study, performance, or artefact. Learners will select a topic of interest for an in-depth study that provides opportunities to develop crucial skills for further study and their futures. The qualification is assessed internally, with marks awarded subject to Pearson's quality assurance processes.
Why are EPQs a good opportunity for students?
EPQs provide students with a range of essential skills for further study and their future career opportunities, including project management, independent study, and critical thinking. Additionally, this qualification also helps their application stand out to admissions teams when applying to universities and further study pathways, giving them an advantage in competitive environments. It also highlights their commitment to a specific field, which signifies their dedication.

An Extended Project Qualification also provides a wonderful opportunity for self-expression, enabling learners to dive into a topic they are interested in and feel passionate about. Pupils can pick almost any topic, but it is recommended to choose something with enough research available and something related to the field of study they are interested in progressing on to can be a great option too.
